A fun way to spend a morning | canberra newborn photographer

I was soooo excited to do this photo shoot. Not only was I going to get to capture 2 adorable little people, I was going to be able to spend the morning with their wonderful mummy. I have known mum for quite a few years now, she was a teacher at my children’s school and whilst she never taught either of my kids, she always took such loving interest in them that I felt like she did. When your children are at school and you aren’t there to take care of them, it’s teacher’s like this who make you feel like your children are in the most loving hands.

I was so thrilled that I was going to be able to capture images of her children and in some way repay the warm feelings and kindness she has always shown my family. New baby M was quite a bit older for a newborn session but she totally was so sweet and divine. Giving lots of beautiful awake goodness and then dropping off to sleep at the end for some perfect snoozy shots. And big brother C was full of energy and reminded me so much of my own Fraser at that age. My assistant got to spend the morning hanging out with him, creating snakes out of my garden plants and just generally having far too much fun. I wonder if mum realises that it was probably my assistant’s favourite morning here at the studio EVER!!!!!

Sessions like this, where it feels more like a morning with friends rather than work reminds me of why I love being a family photographer – this is what it’s all about. Great to see you again M, I hope you love the images as much as I do…

This 7 day old sweetie was at the studio recently and I cannot believe how lovely she was. She truly was the perfect little baby for me and we got so many dreamy images of her. It is always such a privilege to be able to capture this amazing time in a family’s life. Everything is so new and special, and at times a little tiring hehe, but the thing that always shines through the most is the absolute joy and love the parents are experiencing. Sweet baby R is going to have a wonderful life with parents as loving as this.

This recent session with little Mr. J was wonderful. Apart from the fact that he is about as handsome as you can get, his parents are lots of fun and spending time with them could hardly be called work. I love the way little J has his hand up near his face in alot of the images, he obviously found it comforting and I found it completely adorable.

Togetherness and love | children’s photographer canberra

This family absolutely oozed love for each other and and it was clear to me from the minute I met them that their little boy was the most important thing in the world to them. Little K is one lucky little guy because he is loved beyond words. And the fun they had together brought the biggest smile to my face. The boys especially have a close bond and nothing seemed to make mum happier than watching them have fun together. It was a really fast paced session because we all know how busy 2 year old boys can be but I knew that we had captured lots of little boy goodness because K was just having too much fun for words.

This family are just some of the nicest people you could meet and I feel so very happy and blessed to have met them and to be able to capture a little of their love in these images…

And can we talk about mum’s smile for a minute. The word that comes to mind is “dazzling”, her smile lit up the room. She will probably be embarrassed that I am gushing about her smile but it just had to be said hehe.

These little guys were lots of fun and a great challenge. Big brother was the king of the “cheesy” grin so it was my challenge to capture his real smile. Little brother was not very happy to be still in any way but the good news for me was that whatever big brother likes to do, little brother likes to do too. So that became the theme of the session – big brother had his photo taken first, then little brother stepped “into his shoes” hehe. It worked perfectly and we got some amazing images. I love this type of session, one that is fast paced, lots of work, tons and tons of giggles and in the end – amazing images.

Silly Sister Sweetness | family photography canberra

This is my third session with this awesome family and watching these two girls grow is an absolute joy. They are as sweet as can be and I seriously love being able to capture them growing throughout their little lives. The whole session was all about the girls and as much as their individual images are gorgeous, it’s the sister shots that truly make me smile. I have no doubt that at home they have times when they fight and carry on like all sisters, but being able to capture them giggling and playing together and being total sweethearts completely made my day. So since the sister shots are my favourites, that’s all I am sharing on this blog post. It’s all about their togetherness. I love love love these images of them, I know that they will be treasured by mum and dad forever.

The sessions with this family are always extra wonderful because I adore their mummy. She is such a sweet woman and we usually end up chatting long after the camera is put away. I really appreciate her constant support of me and of my work and I always enjoy catching up on our gossip…

Mother of the Year | canberra baby photographer

Yep you heard me, I just won Mother of the Year. How did I do this I hear you ask? Well it’s simple really. I got my daughter tickets to see her favourite boy band, One Direction, today. This is not an easy feat. They are hard to come by. Haven’t heard of them, well where have you been living, under a rock? Or maybe you only have small children and are not living the “teenage girl dream” that I am. Here is their website in case you are interested:- One Direction Website. Their music is typical cute pop stuff but fairly catchy. And here is a pic so you can see what all the “girl” fuss is about:-

Cute huh. The crazy thing is, these tickets I just bought, well the concert isn’t until September 2013. Yep you heard me, 2013. Selling tickets for a concert 18 months out. Crazy amazing stuff right? This leads me to ask myself the following questions:-

1. Will the band even still be together then?

2. Will my daughter still like the band then?

3. How can I get those marketing people to manage my marketing? Hehehehehe

So for now I am Mother of the Year, this title may last 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day or 1 year. Who know’s when you are raising a teenage girl?

Fortunately for me, I am raising the sweetest teenage girl eva! so I should hold the title for a while…I hope!

Blog catch up | baby photography canberra

Things have been hectic here at the studio and in the Kelly household. My children have had so many sporting things on, so many social things on, whew they have a busier life than me. Add to that lots of beautiful little babies arriving into the world for me to capture beautiful images of and you have one crazy lady on your hands. My mother-in-law has also been visiting for the past 2 weeks which was really nice. After losing her husband to cancer only a few short weeks ago, it was great to have her here so we could spoil her and spend lots of time healing together. And now with school holidays here and more events on the kids calendars I’m looking forward to things quietening down, although as you all know, babies come all year round so quiet times are few and far between at the studio hehe.

I really wanted to share this baby on the blog, he is just so loved and absolutely the most precious little man. I love his little face and his gorgeous hair. Mum and dad were so warm and fun and they could not be more excited to become parents…

This super cute little man was not too happy about this whole newborn photography business. I think he just didn’t like being naked, and modesty is a good quality most of the time hehe. Needless to say after many hours of trying to get him relaxed and sleepy we all finally gave in and decided to come together in a few days and try again. Baby B held out for a little while this time as well but to everyone’s relief, he eventually dropped off to sleep and was an absolute star. So in the end I got to spend lots of time with some lovely people and these images were definitely worth all of the effort, so adorable…
