I have this friend that I call Martha Stewart because she’s always baking up some scrumptious treat and frankly it makes me feel like a crappy mummy so I tease her to make myself feel better (hi Martha) hehe. Baking is not something I do often, however I do enjoy it when I do and the kids, well they just think it is some amazing miracle and they kinda love me just a little more when I bake.
Today I found myself desperately wanting to bake, which could only mean one thing…my business is crazy busy. Everytime I get the urge to bake it is the same old story. I am snowed under with work and somehow taking a few hours to bake some cakes or something similar just seems like a good idea, hehehe. I think it helps me refocus my energy and then tackle all of that work with renewed gusto. Whatever the reason, sometimes I just gotta bake…
Last week I bought the cutest cake tin/tray thingo and so with my enthusiasm for baking high, I jumped into the task of creating something amazing with it. The only problem with me and baking – I have the most amazing ideas, ideas that would make you gasp with delight but alas, I do not possess the skills, know how or patience to fully create my astounding visions. I usually get halfway through and lose interest and then rush the end and unfortunately that means I am constantly disappointed with my efforts. Then I throw my apron back in the cupboard until the next time this baking urge hits.
Today’s baking effort has turned out very cute, but still not as cute as I had envisioned. But I feel like I did okay for the first time with this idea so I will keep honing it until I do reach the pinnacle of perfection (either that or until I throw the damn thing away, haha). I think these would look sweet covered in hundreds and thousands with a smartie in the middle, maybe even dipped in chocolate (oooooh yum, now that’s an idea), served with a dollop of cream, oh the ideas are endless.
The kids will love them at least, and really in the end that is truly what baking is all about…smiles on faces!
You could even get fancy and tie ribbons on them, and even pop a clear cellophone bag over them and put them in lunchboxes, I think I may do that for the kids tomorrow. The possibilities for making these magical truly is endless

Ohh they look awesome, Georgia has been into baking lately, as we know it’s not the finished product for her that appeals it’s more the licking the bowl in the process! She would love these!! Sadly she thinks baking comes out of a packet to which you add an egg and water, LOL!!! What a good Mummy you are!!
